1) Love the political development here. I’m most fascinated by the history books section and the City Councilmen. So Tenzin has a rival from the Northern Water Tribe who’s one way in front of the public and another behind closed doors? Very, very interesting. I also loved seeing how the idea of Republic City came into being. First of all- an attempt on Zuko’s life? Love the realistic approach to this. Of COURSE there would be an attempt on his life- there are going to be antagonists and any approach to trying to rebuild a world torn apart by colonization and imperialization is not going to work for everyone. As far as Republic City goes, I also love how it was actually Zuko’s idea and not Aang’s—as well as the fact that Aang was skeptical about it working out. I’m very interested in seeing how the descendants of the members of the resistance in Yu Dao are going to play out here, and most of all the complexity. This is just so neat and cool and I can’t wait to learn more.
2) Tenzin’s family. First of all, love that Jinora is just starting to notice boys and it is bothering Tenzin a whole lot. That makes me smile for so many reasons and I am looking forward to many hijinks. Also, so Pema is a member of the Air Acolytes? Very interesting. So what I’m guessing is that they are a group of people who are interested in preserving Air Nomad culture for the future. I’m curious as to what draws them there; do their entire families come? Is it an individual thing?
3) Aang’s Statue. Thanks to the very very high resolution intro (thanks Nick!), we can see that Aang decided to go with the facial hair when he got older. Don’t blame the guy, it makes him look more dignified. But it also makes me wonder- when was his statue made? From what I understand about the history of Republic City, it’s not really that old. A lot happened- the Harmony Restoration Movement, the Resistance, and then the planning for a new approach to reconstruction, so I assume Aang was well into his 40s when the city really started being built. So why then does the statue look like that? I don’t know that we’ll get an answer for this, but you know. It’s intriguing.
4) Aang. So now we know the iceberg caught up to him. 66? That is so early. And so early for Katara to be alone, too :( At least she has her family and Korra. Glad to see that he found sky bison and winged lemurs though on his adventures. SPEAKING OF WHICH- I really hope we get some details on these adventures of his and that they don’t keep us hanging!

Aang: This has gotta be the nicest natural city in the Fire Nation. I don’t see anything that would make a spirit mad around here.
Toph: Maybe the Moon Spirit just turned mean.
Sokka: THE MOON SPIRIT, IS A GENTLE LOVING LADY! SHE RULES THE SKY WITH COMPASSION! …AND LUNAR GOODNESS!
